Amobee, a marketing agency with a very youthful and fun vibe reached out to us to design their end-of-year Christmas party. They had one requirement - “make it interactive, not just good to look at.”

Since they had already selected a theme (Havana Nights) and locked in a venue at The Spit (Zest Boathouse), we had to work around these existing arrangements.

We drew on the inspiration concepts of Cuba and the 1987 film ‘Dirty Dancing’ to presented the Amobee team with 2 colour palette options. The first was tropical colourful and the second was exotic, filled with bold and vibrant colours. As you can see, Amobee chose the latter.

Most corporate events have a boring media wall.
Most corporate events have a photo booth these days.

We married these two concepts and added an element of interactivity by sourcing a giant swing to serve as a photo booth prop. We provided hats, fans, rugs and cushions to emphasize the interactiveness and fun appeal of the space.

It was their idea to have a cigar bar so we designed two retro-inspired signs and came up with unique quotes. For inclusiveness, the cigar bar not only had real cigars but also chocolate cigars. The matches were both functional and pretty to look at. We added old whisky bottles to enhance the Cuban theme and to throw in a little reference to Mad Men. For personalisation, the company logo was engraved onto coconuts found at the drinks station.

As for the table settings, the Christmas party was a cocktail event with huge paella cooked and served on the outdoor balcony. For table signage, we came up with quirky quotes and complementing style of retro graphics to make the space fit in with the Cuban band and youthful fun vibe of the team.
